
Last week, Laura Welch was recognized for her dedication and leadership in the field of special education, receiving the prestigious Outstanding Special Education Administrator award for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Linda Steele, Special Services Director at Dakota Valley, highlighted Welch’s significant contributions to the profession. Welch, who serves as the Special Services Director for the Lennox School District, was selected for the award by the South Dakota Council of Administrators of Special Education (SDCASE) in partnership with the School Administrators of South Dakota (SASD).
“Laura brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the field,” Steele stated. “Having served the past two years as the President of SDCASE, Laura has grown the SDCASE organization and provided many opportunities for the members of the organization. She also currently serves as Past President of the SASD Executive Board.”
Welch’s nomination underscored her unwavering commitment to advocating for students with special needs.
“Mrs. Welch has consistently demonstrated an extraordinary passion for advocating on behalf of students with special needs, ensuring that they receive the support and resources necessary for their academic and personal growth,” the nomination read.
