A special election will be held on Tuesday, July 27 in Lincoln County.
Voters referred Ordinance No. 2105-07 that was passed by commissioners. This ordinance would rezone a portion of the land north of the Sioux Falls Regional Livestock Cattle Auction, located near Worthing, changing it from Light Industrial to General Industrial. The parcel is located at N1/2 NE 1/4 (Ex. H-1) of Section 18-T98N-R50W.
The land was being rezoned to accommodate a meat processing plant; according to Commissioner Jim Schmidt, the company has since withdrawn their plans after area residents objected to the location.
Ordinance No. 2105-07 will not become effective unless approved by majority vote.
Election polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 27th. Voting precincts can be found in the legal notice on page 7 of this week’s paper as well as the sample ballot.
