The Lennox High School boys’ basketball team tacked on two more wins last week, defeating Parker 64-28 on Jan. 30 and Aberdeen Roncalli, 57-47 on Feb. 1.
On Thursday, Jan. 30 the Orioles hosted Parker and jumped ahead early and never looked back, ending their two-game losing streak.
“It was good to get back in the win column during this game,” said LHS head coach Jacob Hinker. “We are slowly working through a few shooting woes and working to get through some things offensively that we showed some improvements in this game.”
Aiden Hanssen led the way for Lennox finishing with 17 points. Hanssen hit three three-pointers in the game, grabbed seven rebounds, had three assists and two steals. Teegan Musser was also in double figures for Lennox, scoring 11 points, going five of six from the field. He also grabbed four rebounds, had one assist and one steal.
Brennen Juffer finished with ten points, hitting all three three point attempts and going one of two at the foul line.
Boston Katzer scored eight points, grabbed five rebounds, had three assists and one steal. Drake Mikkelsen finished with six points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal. Tate Gerdes had five points, three rebounds, and four assists. Layton Smith finished with four points, one rebound, one assist and one steal. Talen Eich scored three points, grabbed five rebounds, had two assists and two steals.
Following their win over Parker, the Orioles competed in the Dak XII/NEC Class in Madison on Saturday, Feb. 1. Lennox took on Aberdeen Roncalli and once again got the lead early and battled to hang on to the win to improve to 9-4.
“Aberdeen Roncalli came out and hit some timely shots, including some three pointers, that never let us quite pull away in this game,” said Hinker. “We have been challenging the boys to bring forth energy from the tip and the boys showed strides with that in a gym that was fairly quiet. It was good to end the week with another win!”
Against Aberdeen Roncalli, Gerdes led the way with 16 points. He also pulled down eight rebounds, had six assists and one steal. Musser finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and one steal.
Eich hit three three-pointers in the game to finish with nine points. He also had four rebounds and two steals. Katzer scored eight points, led the team in rebounds with 11, and had six assists and two steals. Hanssen finished with six points. Smith provided four points, three rebounds and Mikkelsen had two points, one rebound, and three steals.
