One Act claims Region 2A Championship title: Lennox to compete at State this weekend

Levo recognizes eight area teachers

Amy Lundquist recognized at Lennox Elementary

Levo Credit Union awarded $500 each to eight area teachers nominated by parents, students or community members as having made a huge impact on our kids. Levo started the Adopt-A-Classroom Program in 2014. Since then, Levo has awarded more than $38,000 in classroom awards to area teachers. Levo saw almost twice as many nominations this year as last year.

“We received 98 nominations from across our service area – that’s more than ever before,” says Jen McKeown with the Levo Cares Foundation. “The huge increase is a testament to the high-quality educators we have in this area.”

Nominees were able to recognize a teacher by answering two questions:

• What impact has this teacher made on your life?

• How have they demonstrated a unique and creative teaching style?

Amy Lundquist, Lennox Elementary first grade teacher was among the winners.

Her nominator Chelsey McManaman said, “It is with great pleasure and immense gratitude that I nominate Amy Lundquist for Levo’s Adopt A Classroom. My daughter, Aria, has had an incredible year in her 1st-grade class, and it is all thanks to the unwavering dedication, care, and expertise of Amy! From day one, my daughter formed a special bond with her which has had a profound impact on her growth and development.

Under Amy’s guidance, my daughter has not only excelled academically but has also matured emotionally and socially. Amy has created a classroom environment where learning is both fun and meaningful, instilling a love of knowledge in my daughter that I know will last for years to come. She eagerly looks forward to school each day, and it’s clear that Amy has made learning an enjoyable and inspiring experience.

What stands out the most is how Amy has truly understood and nurtured my daughter’s unique needs, fostering her confidence and independence. Through individualized attention and encouragement, my daughter has flourished in ways I never imagined possible in such a short time! The growth in her enthusiasm for learning, her ability to work through challenges, and the joy she now feels about school are all a testament to Amy’s incredible teaching style. I enjoy that each night, my daughter now wants to read to her dad and me instead of us reading her bedtime stories. She wants to read and earn her points to have lunch in Amy’s classroom the following month. She looks forward to this so much!

I am so thankful for the positive influence Amy has had on my daughter’s life. She has not only taught her valuable academic skills but has also helped her grow into a more confident, kind, and enthusiastic young person. I cannot think of a more deserving individual than Mrs. Lundquist!

The best encouragement to get children to read at home is to have parents sign off on a sheet that the student read so many minutes/pages at the end of the month, if they reach the goal, they get to enjoy lunch with Mrs. Lundquist in the classroom! The students absolutely love this!”

Others receiving the award from the area included the following:

• Julia Blashack, 9-12 Grade Theater and English, Roosevelt High School, Sioux Falls, SD.

• Garrett Buchanan, 5-6 Band Teacher, Watertown Intermediate School, Watertown, SD.

• Kelly Enebo, 1st Grade Teacher, Liberty Elementary, Harrisburg, SD.

• Jennifer Miller, Morningside Elementary, Art, Sioux City, IA.

• Allison Rasmussen, Early Childhood Preschool, Brandon Elementary, Brandon, SD.

• Jessica Foley, 5th Grade, Terry Redlin Elementary, Sioux Falls, SD.

• Rachel Sturm, Jefferson High School Family & Consumer Sciences, Sioux Falls, SD.

“We believe in giving back to our community because our community has made us what we are today,” says McKeown. “What better way to do that than to recognize the teachers who lay the foundation of our future by shaping the young minds of our kids?”
