Curling teams from six states gathered at the Scheel’s Iceplex on the weekend of June 7-9 for the Lloyd Green Benespiel. This was the first ever bonspiel hosted by Sioux Falls Curling and it was for the benefit of Lloyd Green, a fellow curler out of the Yankton Club who is fighting cancer. Four South Dakota clubs worked together to put the bonspiel: Sioux Falls, Yankton, Brookings, and Aberdeen.
Playing in the tournament were Jerry Crevier, Monica Cross, and Dale and Cheryl Ziegler, all from Lennox. The Crevier/Cross team (Curl Jam) won the third event and the Ziegler team (Petrified Rocks) won the second event.
The Sioux Falls Sports Authority has announced that Sioux Falls has been chosen to host the 2025 U.S. Olympic team trials for men’s and women’s curling and the U.S. Paralympic team trials for wheelchair mixed doubles curling. The trials will take place at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center Nov. 7-16, 2025. Ticket information for the Trials will be announced at a later date.
