LHS volleyball team celebrates Senior Night and Pink Out Night, prepares for Regional playoffs



On Tuesday, Oct. 22, the Lennox High School volleyball team celebrated senior night with a commanding victory over McCook Central Montrose, winning in straight sets 25-21, 25-8, and 25-18. Senior players Ella Grengs, Ryan Hanssen, Lilly Meyer, and Gavyn Herlyn were honored for their contributions to the team. The event was also marked by “Pink Out for Pruitt” night, with funds raised through t-shirt sales and a 50/50 raffle supporting the Kruse family. The team is pictured above with Pruitt and his mom, Jordan Kruse.  

The Orioles’ stat leaders included Ella Grengs with 10 kills and 14 assists, while Libby Kranz and Addison Martz each added nine kills. Grengs also led with eight digs, supported by Herlyn and Hannah Adney with seven each. Libby Kranz delivered five aces and three blocks, with Martz adding three blocks as well.

On Friday, Oct. 25, the Orioles faced Baltic but fell in three sets with scores of 8-25, 23-25, and 22-25. Hanssen led with nine kills, and Martz added six. Meyer had an ace in the game and Grengs finished the night with 13 assists while Adney added nine. Defensive leaders included Andie Peters with nine digs, while Mallorie Bittner and Rylee Hedin recorded four blocks each.

Lennox wrapped up their regular season falling in a match to Sioux Falls Christian, 3-1 on Monday, Oct. 28. Complete statistics for this match will be available in next week’s paper. The Orioles now turn their attention to the first round of Region playoffs, set to begin on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
