The Lennox High School student council is looking forward to another busy year, starting with Homecoming activities. The theme this year is Lennox Orioles Have Got the Beat (music themed). High school students will show their spirit by dressing up during the week of September 11th through the 15th. The dress-up days center around the theme and are as follows: Monday — Surfin’ USA (Red, White & Blue Day); Tuesday — Slim Shady Day (Rappers); Wednesday — True Colors (each grade is dressing up in their own color: Freshman - green, Sophomores - coral/pink, Juniors - blue, and Seniors - purple); Thursday — Barbie vs. Western Day; and Friday — Oriole Pride!
The public is invited to attend the planned activities throughout the week: Monday, September 11 – Junior Varsity football @ Canton at 4 p.m.; Junior High Volleyball @ Lennox at 4:30 p.m.; and that evening Coronation set for 8:00 p.m. at Lennox High School. During Coronation the King and Queen will be announced. Royalty candidates this year include: Carter Benning, Lucas Bontje, Triston Butler, Trey Gerdes, Michael Hall, Porter Ihnen, Sawyer Hansen, Dani Highum, Kaylee Hofer, Kate Jackson, Clara Stucky, and Ashlee Sweeter.
Other weekly activities include Tuesday, September 12 – Boys Golf vs. Vermillion, Home, 2 p.m.; Cross Country @ Yankton Trail Park, 4 p.m.; Volleyball @ Elk Point Jefferson (Varsity at 7 p.m.; JV at 6 p.m. and C-team at 5 p.m.); Junior High Football @ Lennox at 4 p.m. On Thursday, September 14 – Volleyball @ Parkston (Varsity at 7 p.m., JV at 6 p.m.; and C-team at 5 p.m.); Junior High Volleyball @ West Lyon, 4:30 p.m. On Friday, September 15 – Homecoming Parade starting at 1:30 p.m., Girls Tennis @ McKennan Park, 12 p.m. and Varsity Football game against Custer at home starting at 6:00 p.m.
The parade route is pictured at right. Parade entries can line up on Park Drive beginning at 12:30 p.m. The Homecoming Parade will begin Friday, Sept. 24 at 1:30 p.m. The route will head North on Main to 1st Ave. East on 1st Ave. to Cherry. South on Cherry to 6th Ave. East on 6th Ave. to exit. Elementary students will go West on 6th Ave. to return to school for parent pick-up.
