Lennox High School presented their Veterans Day program last Friday, Nov. 10. The program began with the performance of the National Anthem by the LHS band.
Clara Stucky provided introductory remarks and the band then performed “America Sweet Land of Liberty”.
Seventh graders, McKenzie Mattson, Sophia Onnen, Amber Visscher, and Gracie Wood, shared their poems before the Keynote Address was given by Command Sergeant Major Robert Schmidt (pictured above at right).
Eighth grade Patriot Pen essays were also shared by Karter Herren, who won first place honors, Jayla DeCou, who took second place, and Allegra Vanderwerf, who took third. Jocelyn Thoms placed fourth in the contest.
Gunnar Geiken shared his winning Voice of Democracy essay with the those in attendance.
The Freedom Quilters presented Harold Fischer, Jim Serverson, and Mike Oltmanns with beautifully handcrafted quilts. The quilts were made by Yonne Severson, Elaine Rieck.
The LHS band performed “Song For the Unsung Hero” and all Veterans in attendance were recognized.
Aden Voeltz and Noah Oien performed Taps before the closing remarks.
All Veterans and their families were invited to enjoy refreshments following the program, courtesy of the Lennox Sundstrom FFA.
