On Monday, Sept. 25 the Lennox High School golf team traveled to Elk Point to compete in the 2023 Boys Region 2A Golf Championship. While the top 25 individuals would secure a ticket to the State Championship, the top three teams would also make the cut.
For Lennox, the competition was challenging, Ryan Benning and Eli Homan just finished out of qualifying, falling in 27th and 30th respectively with a score of 92 from each golfer.
Benning shot a 50 on the front nine and a 42 on the back nine. His day was highlighted with a birdie. Homan shot a 48 on the front nine and a 44 on the back. His day was also highlighted with a birdie.
Also competing for Lennox was Talan Diercks who scored a 95, shooting a 50 and a 45. Griffen Boomgarden and Alex Heibult had shot a 94 and 93 respectively, however, they were disqualified due to a scoring error.
Winning the individual Region 2A title was Derek Andersen from Tea Area. The team title was won by Dakota Valley. Tea Area took second and Vermillion third.
The 2023 State A Tournament will be held at Hart Ranch Golf Club in Rapid City, Monday, Oct. 2 and Tuesday, Oct. 3.
