LHS golfers finding success

On Tuesday, Sept. 3 the Lennox High School boys’ golf team competed in the 2024 Charger Invite. 

Lennox was led by Jaxson Bittner who shot a 79 on the day to tie for 19th place. Bittner shot a 39 on the front nine and a 40 on the back. His day was highlighted with two birdies. 

Emmitt Odland shot an 83 on the day to place 29th. He shot a 39 on the front nine and a 44 on the back. He had two birdies on the day. 

Griffen Boomgarden shot a 90 with a 47 on the front nine and a 43 on the back. He had one birdie on the course. He finished in 57th place.

Wyatt Holland shot a 91 with a 45 on the front nine and a 46 on the back. He had one birdie. He finished in 63rd place. 

Cole Spieler shot a 95 on the day, shooting a 51 on the front nine and a 44 on the back. He finished 70th.

Eli Plank shot a 98 on the day with a 52 on the front nine and a 46 on the back to finish 76th. 

Winning the Invite was West Central’s Anthony Lanham who shot three under with a 69. 

As a team Lennox finished ninth behind first place Dakota Valley, second place Vermillion, and third place Tea Area. There were 15 teams competing. 

On Friday, Sept. 6 the LHS golfers competed in the Parkston Invite and captured fourth as a team, among the 12 teams competing. West Central took the team title, Elk Point Jefferson took second and Sioux Falls Christian third. 

Leading Lennox at Parkston was Bittner who took 15th with a score of 80. Bittner shot a 40 on the front nine and a 40 on the back, shooting two birdies on the day. 

Highum finished 19th with a score of 82, shooting a 41 on the front nine and a 41 on the back. He had one birdie. Boomgarden finished with an 83 (41, 42) to place 22nd. He had two birdies. Holland shot an 85 (43, 42), finishing in 26th place. He had one birdie on the course. 

Spieler placed 38th with a score of 88 (42, 45) and Eli Plank shot an 88 to take 40th (41, 47). He had three birdies on the day.
