The Lennox High School girls’ basketball team wrapped up their regular season last week with a loss to Tri-Valley on Feb. 20 followed by a win over Beresford on Friday, Feb. 21.
Against Tri-Valley, Lennox jumped ahead early but the Mustangs used an 11-3 fourth quarter advantage to hand Lennox the 42-36 loss.
“We started each half well but really struggled to finish. Unfortunately, we had too many turnovers and Tri-Valley made enough plays in the end to close it out,” said LHS head coach Adam Quail.
Andie Peters was the lone Oriole in double figures for Lennox finishing with 12 points. She hit four three pointers in the game. She also had two rebounds.
Bergan Musser finished with eight points, three rebounds, one assist and two steals. Both Libby Kranz and Ryan Hanssen finished with seven points. Kranz also grabbed three rebounds, had two assists and two steals. Hanssen led the team in rebounds with seven.
Tori Gerdes added two points, grabbed three rebounds, had two assists and one steal. Gavyn Herlyn had four rebounds, three assists and a team-high four steals. Karlie Bosma finished with four rebounds, two assists and one steal.
On Friday, Feb. 21 the Orioles bounced back with a 44-41 win over Beresford in a rescheduled contest. Lennox trailed at the half but used a 16-5 third quarter advantage to get the win.
“I was proud of our effort on both end of the court and our ability to finish a close game as we head into the post season. Defensively, we have played well the past couple games holding TV to 42 and Beresford to 41,” said Quail. “Offensively we have to focus on taking quality shots for our continued success.”
