On Saturday, Jan. 11 the Lennox High School girls’ basketball team traveled to Groton Area and used a 12-5 fourth quarter advantage to take the 49-39 victory.
“We knew going into the game that Groton was going to be an overly physical opponent and that we were going to have to handle their play by matching their physically and not letting it impact us mentally. We were able to step up to that challenge which took any advantage Groton had away,” said LHS head coach Adam Quail. “I was impressed with how we settled into our offense, accepted longer possessions, which led to us taking great shots. Defensively we really made it hard on Groton, very rarely allowing them clean looks at the rim. Libby Kranz had a great game on both ends of the floor.”
Kranz led the way for the Orioles with 18 points, going three of three from downtown. She also had four rebounds in the game.
Andie Peters also hit three three-pointers to finish with nine points. She grabbed four boards, had one assist and one steal. Bergan Musser finished with eight points, one rebound, one assist and one steal. Tori Gerdes had five points, two rebounds, and one steal. Karlie Bosma finished with four points, four rebounds, a team-high six assists and one steal. Ryan Hanssen provided three points, two rebounds, and one steal and Gavyn Herlyn had two points, four rebounds, four assists and one steal. Adie McVey and Jayla DeCou each had a rebound in the game and Mia Hanisch finished with one assist.

They will be on the road on Thursday, Jan. 16 when they travel to Vermillion in double header action with the LHS boys.
