The spirited and enthusiastic cheerleaders of Lennox High School are gearing up to ignite the crowd’s energy as they prepare for the first football game of the season this Friday, August 25 at home against Chamberlain. With their eyes set on a season filled with excitement and positivity, the cheerleading squad is ready to rally the fans and support the Orioles.
Cheer Coach Molly Townsend shared her anticipation for the upcoming season, highlighting the dedication and preparation of the cheerleaders.
“These girls are excited to bring excitement and positivity to each game,” said Townsend.
The 2023-2024 cheerleading squad is composed of Clara Stucky, Sawyer Hansen, Teagan Swier, Maria Nelson, Sophie Smith, Adelynn Timmermans, Alia Temme, and Layci Eli.
The cheerleaders have been hard at work over the summer in preparation of the upcoming season.
“We participated in a UCA cheer camp over the summer. The girls have over 30 hours of practice and stunting so far,” said Townsend. “We also hosted a three-day cheer camp for the kids in the community over the summer that included teaching many of the LHS routines.”
Not content with merely boosting the energy of the crowd, the LHS cheerleaders are eager to support the Oriole Pride Marching Band during their halftime show as well.
Students, parents, and fans are encouraged to join in on the excitement.
“Students, parents and fans can get involved by cheering and yelling loud along with us during the games,” said Townsend. “A great way to do this is to participate in the chants, cheers and the school song. Remember to stand up and be loud!”
