On Tuesday, Feb. 11 the Lennox High School boys’ basketball team hosted Pine Ridge and after a back and forth battle in the first half, the Orioles pulled away in the second half to get the 75-56 victory.
“After beating Pine Ridge on a shot at the buzzer at the Corn Palace, we knew that we were going to be in for a battle with them when we played again in Lennox,” said LHS head coach Jacob Hinker. “The boys were ready to go from the jump after not having a preparation day the previous day because of an early out from school. We emphasized using our size and athleticism against them and wanted to get to the rim and offensive rebound at a high level and the boys did just that. I am proud of the team for continuing to trend in the correct direction.”
Three Orioles were in double figures with Tate Gerdes leading the way with 20 points. Gerdes also grabbed nine rebounds, had a team-high six assists and recorded two steals.
Teegan Musser finished with 14 points, grabbed five rebounds, had one assist, and a team-high five steals. Layton Smith scored 12 points, had four rebounds, and one steal.
Boston Katzer finished with eight points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. Aiden Hanssen had seven points, one rebound, one assist and one steal. Both Talen Eich and Drake Mikkelsen finished with six points. Eich also had two assists and a steal and Mikkelsen grabbed eight rebounds and had three assists.
Cole Spieler also provided two points, had two rebounds and a steal.
The Feb. 18 game against Beresford was postponed due to cold weather.
