Lennox Memorial Day program to be held May 31 at band shell

Berthorst-Burma American Legion Post 174 Memorial Day program will be held on Monday, May 31 at 7 p.m. at the band shell in Westerman Park in Lennox.

Due to the fact that no program was held in 2020, citizenship and scholarship students from Lennox during the 2019-2020 school year will be recognized along with the students from the 2020-2021 school year.

Please bring lawn chairs if you wish to sit during the program. If the weather becomes undesirable or inclement, the program will be canceled.

This will also mark the first performance for the Lennox Municipal Band. See the full Memorial Day program schedule on page 10.

Memorial Day is a time to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. The Lennox Community records eleven men who died during service in WWII.

In the words of Lincoln, “The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but the world will never forget what these men did here.” These men gave unsparingly, not because of fanatic emotions, but because of deep convictions and love of country.

The biographies of these men, who so gallantly lived and died in the service of their country are found on page 9 of this week's Lennox Independent.
