The U.S. Department of Education recognized 356 schools as the 2024 cohort of the National Blue Ribbon Schools, including four schools in South Dakota on Sept. 23.
Among the schools receiving this honor was Lennox Elementary School, Lennox School District 41-4.
The school was officially recognized at the Teacher of the Year Banquet in Pierre on Sept. 26, and at an awards ceremony that was held Washington D.C. this past week.
“I’m thrilled to announce that Lennox Elementary has officially been awarded the 2024 National Blue Ribbon! This remarkable accomplishment is a tribute to the students, staff, and community who made it possible,” said Lennox Elementary Principal Cody Lutes. “Kristen Hardie and I had the honor of accepting the award on behalf of our school, standing proudly among other exceptional schools nationwide. We felt deeply privileged to represent our incredible school and community on a national stage.”
Lennox Elementary will be celebrating this achievement throughout the year with students, staff, and the entire community.
“This award reflects the dedication, commitment, and hard work that our staff and students bring to Lennox Elementary every day,” added Lutes.
This prestigious recognition highlights schools that excel in academic performance or make significant strides in closing achievement gaps among different student groups.
Lennox Elementary serves about 350 students from pre-kindergarten through fourth grade.
