Lennox Area Ambulance secures $4,000 grant for critical stretcher upgrade

The Lennox Area Ambulance has been awarded a $4,000 grant from the Lennox Area Community Fund (LACF) to assist in upgrading one of its aging Stryker stretchers, a vital piece of equipment used for patient transport. The current stretcher, in use for over 12 years, is due for replacement, as advancements in technology have made newer models more comfortable for patients and safer for ambulance providers.

The upgraded stretcher will not only enhance patient care by providing a smoother ride to the hospital, but it will also help reduce the risk of back injuries for ambulance personnel. The $4,000 grant from LACF will be combined with privately raised donations to help cover the cost of a new Stryker stretcher, which is priced at approximately $27,000.

This new model is designed to integrate seamlessly with the ambulance’s existing auto-load system, ensuring efficient and safe patient handling during emergency situations. The Lennox Area Ambulance’s efforts to enhance its equipment will further improve the quality of care provided to the community.

The LACF awarded this grant as part of its 2024 funding cycle, which benefited eight local organizations, including the Lennox Area Ambulance. Other recipients include the Lennox Area Historical Society, Junior Achievement, Worthing Fire Department, Lennox Fire Department, Lennox Community Library, Lincoln County 4-H, and Love, Inc.

Since 2004, the LACF has supported the Lennox, Chancellor, and Worthing communities by providing financial backing to numerous nonprofit organizations. Through the generosity of its donors, the LACF continues to strengthen the local area by awarding grants to meaningful causes. Donations of any size help to increase the fund’s balance and allow the organization to continue its impactful work. Every gift, large or small, helps to increase the fund balance and allows the LACF to continue to give grants to local organizations like the Lennox Area Ambulance.

Local organizations are reminded that the deadline for grant applications is at the beginning of August each year. Nonprofits in the Lennox, Chancellor, and Worthing areas are encouraged to apply for future funding opportunities.
