With construction underway, Lennox Ace Hardware is adding 4,000 square feet to better help serve their customers and offer more to the growing community.
The Lennox Ace Hardware is part of a six-store operation that includes Lennox, Tea, Hartford, Harrisburg, Dell Rapids, and Brandon.
“The ownership for the company is made up of managers and corporate members of the company and we all live up to the motto ‘Nationally Known, Locally Owned’ and Lennox has been apart of this since 2017,” said Ace Hardware Managing Partner, Jason Melcher.
After seeing other renovations, Melcher and his team decided that Lennox needed to have to have the same facelift the other stores were seeing.
“We completed a huge store expansion at our Tea location in August of 2022 and we did a small store remodel at the end of the year last year at our Harrisburg location and we think all that experience is going to be very helpful to us when it comes to the Lennox project,” Melcher said.
As Lennox continues to grow, the team could not pass up the opportunity when the space became available.
“The City of Lennox continues to grow and we need to keep up, we have a great partnership with Sunshine and it was great timing to use all the space available in the building,” he said. Offering customers more became the main goal of the expansion.
“We are excited to be able to offer an expanded variety of products that will be local and convenient for the community by saving them tons of time on long trips into town. As we grow with the community, it allows us to continue to partner with the school and support many other local groups,” he said.
Construction on the project began the last week in December and Melcher hopes to see the project finished up by March 1.
“We currently have 9,000 square feet for the store and after the project is done, it will be close to 13,000 square feet,” he said.
Luckily, for the customers who use the store frequently, Melcher and his team will be there through the whole process.
“We will never be closed, that being said, there will be days where we will need our great customers patients as we move our checkout counters, aisles, and departments around. We are completely resetting the store, so every aisle will be in a new home when we are done, but I am so excited to see how it will all turn out,” Melcher said.
To get ready for the expansion, Lennox Ace Hardware is giving deals to those who have helped them along the way.
“With the new floor plan, there is a bunch of inventory that is not in the new “plan-o-grams” of the store so we are closing out all these items starting at 50 percent and increasing that up to 75 percent as we get closer to transitioning to the new space,” Melcher said.
The deals are to help clear inventory and say thank you to the customers who continually shop there.
“There is nothing wrong with these items, we just need to make room for all the new updated products that will be coming with the new store layout,” he continued.
Melcher and his team will strive to make the pathway to a new store as user friendly as possibly for their customers as they are what the store is all about.
“My favorite part of my job is helping solve problems as every person that comes into our stores has a problem and it is satisfying to help solve something over a five cent nut that finishes a project to an outdoor power equipment for a first time home owner,” he said. With the old inventory out of the way, as spring rolls in, so will the new inventory. “We will be able to offer our customers more of the great brands and services that we currently offer, but the new layout will offer a more open floor plan that will feature our Backyard BBQ and Outdoor Power departments,” he said.
