The Lennox Area Development Corporation (LADC) has launched a new initiative designed to help local businesses and building owners in the Main Street area improve the visual appearance and aesthetic of their properties.
The organization is offering matching funds of up to $5,000 to participants who want to make upgrades to awnings, signage, windows and doors, and other facade elements.
According to Sharese Ihnen, president of the LADC, the goal of the program is to “start a wider revitalization of the area and make it an even more attractive place to live, work, and play.”
To qualify for the grant, businesses must have ownership interest in the property or have approval from the property owner to qualify. Work must be completed no more than 60 days prior to application and work must be completed within 180 days of approval. Extensions may be granted at the discretion of the LADC Board of Directors. Approved grant funds will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the project.
This will be the LADC’s second improvement program, following the successful pilot of a home improvement incentive program earlier in 2022 that reimbursed homeowners for up to 25% of the cost of exterior improvements.
The LADC has allocated $25,000 for the facade improvement program.
Business or building owners who are interested in participating and have questions can contact Ryan Solberg, the LADC’s economic development specialist, by email at ryans@siouxmetro.com or by phone at (605) 630-2050.
