With a scheduled early release for students on Tuesday, April 30 of 12:30 p.m., Lennox Elementary School is adding a flavorful twist to the afternoon by welcoming three food trucks to the Lennox Elementary School parking lot.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the elementary parking lot will host Backyard Barbeque, Let Me Be Frank, and SDSU Ice Cream, offering a variety of delicious options for students, staff, and community members to enjoy.

Elementary Principal Cody Lutes says the idea is to bring a bit of fun and flavor to the school day—and the broader Lennox community.

“The idea is for students, staff, and community members to have the opportunity to grab some great food that we typically don’t have access to in Lennox,” Lutes said. “It is not a fundraiser. Strictly an opportunity to do something fun in the community.”

Here’s what visitors can expect from the food trucks:

Backyard Barbeque – Featuring pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked chicken, and tasty sides like mac n’ cheese, baked beans, potato salad, and cornbread.

Let Me Be Frank – Serving up specialty hot dogs such as Chicago Dogs, Chili-Cheese Dogs, German Dogs, and Mac N’ Cheddar Dogs.

SDSU Ice Cream – Offering SDSU’s signature ice cream, along with shaved ice and other sweet treats.

Lunch will still be served at school for students who wish to eat in the cafeteria. Tables and chairs will also be available outdoors for those choosing to purchase from the food trucks and stay to eat on-site.

Lutes hopes this can become an annual tradition.
