Active Faith Chiropractic expands as Dr. Elhoff passes the torch after 43 years

Active Faith Chiropractic is set to move to its new location at 109 S Main Street. The location will look familiar to most as it was previously home to Dr. Elhoff’s Lennox Chiropractic.

For 43 years, Dr. Jeff Elhoff has been providing care of the residents of Lennox.

“Back in 1981, we received $11 a treatment and some of my new patients teased me that I was too high because a chiropractor in Vermillion was still charging $3 for a treatment,” Dr. Elhoff said.

The first year, Elhoff and wife, Pam, worked together creating a business to help heal people and were blessed with over 600 new patients in that first year.

“We are thankful to Lennox and the surrounding communities for that great start to our business and being able to provide chiropractic care and seeing my patients feel better has been a huge blessing,” he said.

Dr. Haley Luond got a taste of the chiropractic world at a young age and has never looked back.

“I grew up in a small South Dakota town as well and I played a lot of sports growing up, which involved going and visiting my local chiropractor who had such a conservative approach to healing his patients and even as a kid I just remember feeling amazing every time I left his office that by the time I was a sophomore in high school, I already knew this was my career path,” Dr. Luond said.

For the past six years, Luond has owned Active Faith Chiropractic in Sioux Falls and has a current location in Lennox.

“I actually approached Dr. Elhoff about five years before I opened up my Lennox office to see if he would be interested in selling as Lennox has been a second home to me my whole life, but to my amazement, Dr. Elhoff just wasn’t ready to retire yet, and I respected that so much at the time,” she said.

As the years have progressed, Dr. Elhoff has started to listen to his own body, much like the advice he gives his own patients.

“Unfortunately, the physical nature of my profession has my body telling me that I can’t practice forever and I have made the difficult decision to sell my business to Dr. Haley Luond will take over on October 1. She will do a nice job of serving the chiropractic health needs of the community,” he said.

Luond is excited about the changes coming to the Lennox location but wants existing clients to know that her values and techniques closely align with Dr. Elhoff’s.

“We want this transition to be simple, we want you to walk in and still feel that you can see Dr. Elhoff’s office, but just with a chiropractor with a lot more hair,” Dr. Luond joked.

With the added space, Luond and her team are excited about the new therapy options that will be soon available.

“We are so excited about having more space to bring different techniques to the clients in our Lennox office. We are looking into possibly bringing an audiologist once a week, a physical therapist, a lactation consultant or even a doula because I want to provide care for through every phase of life for my clients,” Dr. Luond said.

Treating patients’ bodies, minds, and souls are the reasons Dr. Luond expands her locations.

“I love to be able to heal my patients through God and not being afraid to talk about God and to be thankful for the people that he sends to my office every single week to not only talk about him, but to talk about local sports, local events and all things that make a small town feel like a small town. When you walk in my doors, you get full body and soul care,” Dr. Luond said.

The change over will be made official on Oct. 4.
