This weekend and next you may have a knock on your door as Lennox High School choir students plan to take their fund-raising efforts door to door the next two weekends.
A newly formed non-profit organization, The Lennox Choral Boosters, has been formed by vocal music teacher Mandi Steele. Steele is in her second year with the Lennox School District as the 5th through 12th grade vocal music teacher; she also handles show choir, all-state chorus and music contests. The Lennox Choral Boosters was created in an effort to help raise funds for the music program to buy concert dress uniforms, equipment for the choir room and to help pay for different competitions the students may be involved in.
In May 2018 the Lennox High School Choir has been invited to participate in a concert event at Carnegie Hall, located in New York City. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for many students and an honor for the Lennox School District to be a part of.
The Lennox Choral Boosters is hoping to raise enough funds so that each of the students traveling will not have to pay for the entire trip out of their own pocket. Along with a go-fund me page that has been set up for the group, students will be canvasing the community the next few weekends with door to door donation solicitations.
Saturday, Sept. 9 in the afternoon and Saturday, Sept. 16th in the morning students will ask community members to support the choral program. They are calling the event, “Fun (D) with the Lennox Choir.”
