Lennox 13-14 Teeners capture State Title, Sportsmanship award


The Lennox 13-14 Teener baseball team traveled to Mobridge for the VFW state baseball tournament held July 24-26. The first round had the boys of summer matched up with Dell Rapids on Friday, July 24, things started off well as Lennox scored three runs in the bottom of the first and two in the second to take a 5-1 lead early in the game.

The bats stayed hot in the fourth as Lennox added three runs to make it 9-3 heading into the fifth inning. Dell Rapids tried to make a late charge as they scored a run in the fifth and had a runner on second, when JD Kirchner made a circus catch in left field for the third out to end the top half of the inning. Then it was Lennox’s turn at the plate and they were determined to end this one early, putting five runs on the score board to end the game by the 10 run rule after five innings with a final score of 14-4.

Leading the team in hits was Tyson Stoebner who was on base four times with two doubles and two base on balls. Brock Anderson was two for three with two singles and a walk and Zach Leisinger had two singles as well. Quincy Ihnen pitched four solid innings only allowing three hits and Zach Foss came in to pitch the fifth and help hold Dells to four runs in the game and get Lennox to the semi-finals. Handling catching duties for Lennox against Dells was Stoebner.
